A second [proposed ballot initiative] initiative would allow wedding-related businesses opposed to gay marriage to hire a contractor to serve the couples.

What they're proposing is the state provide a list of businesses willing to provide services, so that those opposed to gay marriage could contract out the work. I can't find details of the initiative, but the idea is interesting. Should bakeries, for example, be allowed to contract orders for gay wedding cakes thereby satisfying both the law and their religious beliefs?
